ESL Jobs

We are now holding interviews for English teachers to teach at our public schools in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen and our capital Beijing. If you are a dynamic teacher, have an interest in an authentic Chinese school setting and can deliver learner centered, engaging lessons then we are interested in speaking with you.

Teachers use the communicative approach to language teaching with various student interactions encouraged in class such as group work, pair work, role plays, project work as well as more traditional teaching methods to add variety to the classes and help create a fun and relaxed learning environment.

All new teachers will receive training on arrival and will be introduced to the school and teaching methods. Teaching materials and resources are provided by the school and are targeted to the age of the students being taught. Materials follow the Chinese national school curriculum and focus on developing all four skills – speaking, listening, reading and writing. Teachers are encouraged to adapt and supplement the materials where need be to ensure classes are engaging and interesting.

Classes are held during the day time from Monday to Friday, with a maximum of 18 hours of teaching per week, so you have evenings and weekends off.

Teach English in Shenzhen

Shenzhen is located in the southern portion of the Guangdong Province, on the eastern shore of the Pearl River Delta. Neighboring the Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong (located just south of Shenzhen), Shenzhen's location gives it a geographical advantage for economic development. In 1980, the first Special Economic Zone of China was built in Shenzhen. From then on, Shenzhen become a highlighted city of China, one known for its rapid economic growth.

Shenzhen is considered as one of the richest cities in the country which offers foreigners a great insight into contemporary China. From a small fishing village 30 years ago, Shenzhen has turned into a city filled with dynamic energy and on its way to becoming a world-class metropolis. Shenzhen is also known for its famous architecture, bars, restaurants, art scenes and shopping areas.

Teach English in Beijing

Beijing, capital of the People’s Republic of China, is the nation’s political, economic, cultural, educational and international trade and communication center. Located in northern China, close to the port city of Tianjin and partially surrounded by Hebei province, Beijing continues to be an exciting place for all things music, fashion and art with plenty of events and shows to attend.

There is a thriving expat community in Beijing, with the Sanlitun area being a popular destination for both expats and trendy locals to mix and mingle over drinks. One of the most important landmarks in the city is Tiananmen Square. This is the world’s largest public square and a must see for all visitors from abroad and from other places in China.

Main Responsibilities

-Maximum 40 working hours per week, including maximum 20 teaching hours
-Each lesson: 40-45 minutes
-Monday to Friday classes (8am – 12pm & 2pm – 5pm) with evenings and weekends off
-Students age group: 3-5 for kindergarten, 6-12 for primary school, 13-15 for middle school
-Deliver learner centered, engaging lessons to students
-Ensure equal participation of all students
-Complete all administrative tasks in a timely manner
-Actively participate in professional development workshops and activities
-Attend school activities, parties and other events

Salary and benefits

-Excellent salary: 11,000 - 18,000 RMB per month including housing allowance (based on qualifications and experience) for teacher outside of China
-Excellent salary: 18,000 - 24,000 RMB per month including housing allowance (based on qualifications and experience) for teacher outside of China for teacher inside of China
-Performance bonus: 1,000 - 2,000 RMB per semester based on performance
-5,000 RMB once-a-year flight allowance paid in the first month

Requirements

-Native English speaker from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, or South Africa
-Bachelor’s degree

At least one of the following required:

-Teaching related degree (English, Education, English Literature, Creative Writing etc.)
OR
-Minimum 120 hour TEFL certificate (No TEFL? – We recommend INTESOL)
OR
-Minimum of 2 years teaching experience with reference letter
